This Saturday was the Phinney Neighborhood Association's 20th Annual Wine Taste. With 21 different Washington vineyards and over 50 wines to choose from, there is something for everyone. Two of my favorites were the Lini Lambrusco rosso, from Picnic, and a 2007 Meritage from Hestia Cellars. Delicious hors d'oeuvres and desserts from Bill Drummond Catering paired beautifully with the different wines. All in all a wonderful evening. Next year I'll post prior to the event so everyone can get their tickets and partake in the festivities.

The Tasting Room
As Washington quickly approaches becoming the nations largest producer of wines, the selection can seem overwhelming. Enter The Tasting Room. This charming wine cellar, in the middle of Pike Place Market has a well edited collection of amazing Washington wines for every palate. Forget your conception of "tasting room" think of this place as a wine bar. The staff is not only knowledgeable but personable, and leave the wine snobbery to other establishments. While you can 'taste' any wine, or do a flight, the relaxed, casual, atmosphere invites you to linger with a glass (or bottle) of your favorite, and partake in any of the numerous board games available. With the wines being sold at retail, great cheeses and chocolates, and a location to die for, The Tasting Room has the honor of being the first bar featured on SCS.
